Arntzen Angus Ranch

Family-owned and operated since 1956

FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED

Arntzen Angus has been in business since 1956 and we currently have three generations working together, side by side, every day.

PRACTICAL

We value EPDs, but balance these indicators with phenotype and our experience knowing what factors make cattle work for our customers.

WHOLE HERD RECORD

We regularly evaluate each animal’s performance throughout its lifetime to help us achieve the best end product for our customers.

THE MOTHER COW

The long-term success and viability of a program begins with the mother cow. We provide a reliable animal that combines performance with important maternal traits.

FEET FOCUS

Cattle must be able to move effectively in ever-changing conditions. Correct foot structure directly impacts the sustainability of an animal and its offspring.

DISPOSITION DRIVER

There’s no room for unpredictable behavior. Safety for our workforce and cattle is our top priority. Docility directly affects cattle health and production efficiency.

$M MOTIVE

This index represents what AAR values in our cattle. We expect females to breed timely and consistently, calve with ease, and raise a solid calf that weans strong.

The Power of Predictability

What does more than 65 years of breeding with same goal in mind produce? A consistent, predictable product that has stood the test of time. Our cattle philosophy is simple — easy fleshing, high maternal, calving-ease cattle with a genetic emphasis on performance for conditions.

We raise our herd on native and improved pasture with our primary feed base on the Ranch, located in Central Montana. The cattle remain close to home year-round, which allows continuous observation that nurtures our whole herd record-keeping philosophy.

We are fortunate to observe our cattle at home, year-round — allowing us to monitor the cattle during all conditions to better understand what drives performance and success throughout the herd.

Calving at AAR begins in late January and runs through March when we start preparing for our annual production sale. The AAR Annual Production Sale is held on the first Thursday in April. Each year, approximately 200+ head of yearling bulls and a select group of commercial heifers sell.
